In the fall of 2006,
71 percent of Catholics strongly or somewhat strongly agree U.S. Bishops are doing a good job leading the church
In the fall of 2001,
83 percent of Catholics strongly or somewhat strongly agreed U.S. Bishops were doing a good job leading the church
More than 83 percent strongly or somewhat strongly agree that the pope is doing a good job leading the church.
64 percent of Mass-attending Catholics thought that priests should be able to marry.
81 percent of non-attending Catholics thought that priests should be able to marry.
15 percent who do not attend Mass are opposed to artificial birth control
36 percent of those who attend Mass are opposed to artificial birth control
Overall, 50 percent of Catholics believe all abortions should be illegal.
Less than half 48 percent of Catholics said the death penalty should be illegal.
65 percent of Catholics are satisfied or very satisfied with their financial situation
More than one-half agree that “most people can be trusted."
Catholics have more “close friends” than those in the general population.
